Abstract
965,801. Refrigerating. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. Sept. 27, 1961 [Oct. 11, 1960], No. 34703/61. Heading F4H. [Also in Division H2] The stator of an electric motor (see Division H2) is cooled by acting as the evaporator of a closed circuit refrigerating system using Freon II (Trade Mark) as the refrigerant. Pump 7 circulates the refrigerant through the stator cavity of electric motor 1 where it evaporates to cool the motor and passes into separator 9. The vapour portion travels to condenser 10 through pipe 11 and the liquid portion in separator 9 returns through pipe 5 to the pump. The condenser comprises a conventional cooling circuit 12 and the condensed refrigerant returns to the pump through pipe 13. A by-pass valve 6 is also incorporated in the circuit.
