Abstract
A pump (al) circulates water from the heat source through one side (a3) of evaporator (e). Refrigerant is circulated through the other side (b5) of the evaporator and through one side (b2) of the condenser and the expansion valve (b3) by a compressor (b1). Heated fluid is circulated through the other side (c2) of the condenser and through the load or heat sink (u) by a pump (c1). A further heat exchanger (v) between the condenser (c2) and the load (u) cools the motor or engine (M) driving the refrigerant compressor (b1) and adds the heat so recovered to the heated fluid and so to the useful output. Alternatively this heat exchanger can be in the refrigerant circuit between the compressor (b1) and the condenser refrigerant coil (b2).
