Abstract

934,224. Concrete floors. H. H. ROBERTSON (HOLDINGS) Ltd. Jan. 15, 1962 [Jan. 26, 1961; June 7, 1961], Nos. 3072/61 and 20480/61. Class 20 (4). A floor comprises concrete cast upon metal channel units 15, Fig. 5, connected side-byside abutment and having side walls 17, 18 provided with flanges 19, 20, or parts of the same such as 36, 37, Fig. 11, which extend in the same direction so that the flange 19 or flange parts 36, 37 on one side wall 17 overlap the flange 20 or flange parts 37, 36 on the abutting side wall 18. Service ducts 28, 28a may be provided below the neutral axis of the finished floor by elements 25 of light sheet metal, cardboard, compressed fibres or earthenware. Access to the ducts may be provided by rings or collars extending -through the concrete and communicating with apertures formed in the elements 25. The units 15 may be connected by bolts or screws 22, by tack-welding 31, Fig. 8, or by apertures 30 through which the concrete-can pass or by interengaging tongues and apertures 30, 32, 33, Fig. 9. In the embodiment of Fig. 11 the units 15 are connected by the intercalating flange parts 36, 37 which are bent from the vertical only approximately into the positions shown in Fig. 11 after the units 15 are assembled side-by-side. The concrete may have a covering of linoleum, asphalt, ceramic or rubber tiles or hardwood.
