Abstract

1404820 Dwelling houses INTER-CONCEPT ENTERPRISES INC 1 Nov 1972 [4 Nov 1971] 50358/72 Heading E1A A single-storey dwelling or a block of flats comprises a regular hexagonal foundation 28, Fig. 8, supporting a floor made up of a main portion and cantilevered portions extending outwardly from at least some of the sides of the hexagon, the cantilevered portions supporting side walls secured to frame means such as columns 50 connected to the main portion of the floor. The columns may be of solid wood, laminated wood, metal or constitute box beams and the floor panels 34, 62 may comprise a frame 38 and a series of joists covered on both sides with plywood. The roof may be made up from panels similar to those used for the floor and covered with tar paper 66; a hexagonal roof fringe of tiles or shingles being provided if so desired. The building is also provided with an inner hexagonal foundation 32 and further columns 52. The sidewalls may be made of inner and outer skins of plywood with a foamed plastics core. The building, Fig. 5, may accommodate a kitchen 150, bathroom 152, laundry 154, a central staircase 124 of metal or wood, a furnace 134, heating and/or air conditioning ducts, electrical and plumbing conduits for full details of which the Specification should be referred to. The Specification and remaining drawings (not shown), should also be referred to for numerous minor details concerning the foundations, room layouts and joints.
