Abstract
925,212. Mine roof bars. GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE A.G. Aug. 14, 1959 [Aug. 14, 1958], No. 27906/59. Class 20 (2). Mine roof bars 1, 2 adapted to be pivotally interconnected and then set by a wedge are each provided with a pivot-pin 3 and a longitudinally sliding wedge 8 at one end and at the other end with a pivot hole 4 and abutment surfaces 6a, 6b. As shown, the wedge 8 has a driving dog 10 and is of rhombic shape so that it may be swung to bear on either abutment surface 6a, 6b depending as to which way up the bar are installed. Modified wedges have less inclined wedge abutment surfaces and have a driving dog projecting on each side of the bar. The wedge prongs 12, 13 are said to be detachable from the remainder of the wedge to facilitate its insertion in the bar which, as shown, is of generally I-section with the wedge end of box-section. The bar may alternatively be of rectangular section.
