Abstract
773,407. Mine roof supports. GULLICK, Ltd., and SEAMAN, T. June 24, 1955 [July 14, 1954], No. 20513/54. Class 20(2) In a mine roof supporting structure 10 having a catch prop 12 located on that side of a conveyer 14 nearest the coal face 15, the structure is adapted to accommodate the catch prop 12 when the latter is removed from its operative position to allow for example, the passage of a coal cutter. In Fig. 3, the support structure comprises four hydraulic props 17 supporting. a canopy 11 formed by two spaced T-section girders 22 between which a hydraulic catch prop 12 is supported by means of a cross head 23 provided with trunnions 24 rotatably and slidably located in the I-sectioned girders 22 enabling the catch props, when released, to be swung upwardly and backwardly into the canopy to the position shown, in which position it is supported by a cross bar 25. The structure 10 is provided with a double acting ram 13 by means of which the canopy 14 and the structure 10 can be advanced as the work proceeds.
