Abstract

923,868. Wrapping-machines. EVERS & CO. A.B. Dec. 7, 1960 [Dec. 7, 1959], No. 42158/60. Class 94(1). [Also in Groups XV and XXX] Relates to apparatus for wrapping cylindrical objects which are rolled by bands 17, 18, 19, Figs. 1, 2 over an adhesive applying device 16 and then over a wrapper pile 33. The wrapper pile 33 is located in an opening in a table 1 and a feed conveyer belt 2 is located at right angles to the table, a pusher plate 3 being positioned for moving the objects from the belt 2 to the table 1. As shown the pusher plate 3 is operated by a pneumatic cylinder 4 and a spring-loaded stopping plate 5 at the end of the belt 2 is actuated by a pneumatic valve 7. Positioned at the other end of the belt 2 is a short conveyer belt 8 driven through a releasable clutch 9. When an object is fed on to the table it passes over a flap 10 which operates a valve 11 to cause the clutch 9 to start operation of the belt 8. When the object meets the plate 5, the valve 7 causes the clutch 9 to release and simultaneously actuates the pneumatic cylinder 4. Three discs 16 in a tank 13 protrude through slots 14 in the table to apply adhesive to the objects. The wrapper pile 33 is carried on a tray 30 supported by nuts 31 on threaded spindles 32 which are connected through reduction gears 34 and by means (not shown) to a spindle 39 which carries a feeler 40 and a weighted arm 41. The feeler 40 is actuated by passage of an object to rotate the spindle 39 and thus lift the tray 30. A cord 43 positioned above the top wrapper of the pile 33 along the edge thereof is guided over pulleys 45 into a tank 46 containing adhesive and effects a continuous application of adhesive on the edge of the wrapper. A weighted lever arm 51 carries a printing stamp 52 and is operated by an object to print on a wrapper previously wrapped around the object.
