[Also in Group V] In a dough-rolling machine in which provision is made for driving the run-off conveyer at a speed substantially equal to the peripheral speed of the rolls and the run-up conveyer at a lower speed, the shaft of the run-off conveyer is driven from the main rolls through a one-way clutch and in turn drives the run-up conveyer through a variable-speed friction gear. In the arrangement shown the fixed lower main roll 1 is driven by a reversible electric motor, the switch 37 of which is operated by a cam ring 34 on a longitudinal shaft 31 rotatable by a handle 32, while the upper roll 2 is capable of vertical adjustment by an eccentric 7 and rod 8 operated by a second longitudinal shaft 3 through a handle 6 integral with a scale 6a indicating the rolling gap. The conveyer rollers 19 are connected to a pinion 9 on the lower roll 1 by spur pinions 10 (not shown) and 12, and one-way clutches 16 of the jamming roller type, and the roller drive shafts 15 carry friction discs 28, 29 engaging between a central pair of discs 27 pressed together by spring washers 26. The discs 27 are carried at the lower end of an arm 22 freely rotateble about shaft 3, and may be moved sideways to vary the ratio between discs 28, 29 by rotating handle 32 and shaft 31, the latter of which is secured to a sector plate 38 formed with detent notches 41 and carrying a plate 40 provided with a vertical slot 39 engaged by the end of the shaft 23 on which friction discs 27 are mounted. Thus the direction of movement of handle 32 determines the direction of rotation of the lower roll 1 and which of the conveyer rollers 19 is driven through its associated clutch 16, while the extent of movement determines the speed ratio between the two conveyer rollers.
