675,929. Beam warping and beaming machines. REINERS, W. Oct. 30, 1950 [July 26, 1949], No. 26469/50. Class 142(iv) A beam 23, after passing a dead-centre position 29 during swinging about its pivot 26 towards its driving roller 25, keeps friction driving wheels 3 and 4 in contact due to its torque about the pivot 29 tending to move the shaft 6 in the direction of the arrow. The beam is swung in about its pivot by a quadrant 20, gear 19, worm and worm wheel 16, 17, shaft 6, friction drive 3, 4 and motor 2. A hand lever 15 moves the shaft to bring the wheel 5 against the wheel 3 to swing the beam outwards. The lever is also used to keep the appropriate friction wheels in engagement during the upward movement of the beam to its deadcentre position. When the beam is swung away from its driving roller and has passed its dead-centre position, the weight of the beam moves the shaft 6 in the opposite direction and keeps the wheels 3, 5 in engagement.
