Abstract

916,395. Forwarding filaments. SCRAGG & SONS Ltd., ERNEST. Sept. 5, 1961 [Sept. 20, 1960], No. 32296/60 Class 120 (2). An arrangement for forwarding a plurality of yarns comprises a drive shaft 12, having a plurality of driving rollers 13 mounted thereon, a plurality of first nip rollers 14 each faced with resilient material 15 and each adapted to be driven by engagement with one of said driving rollers 13, and a plurality of individually mounted second nip rollers each faced with resilient material 20 and adapted to be driven by one of said first nip rollers 14. In Fig. 1 nip roller 14 rotates on the end of an arm 16 pivoted on a bracket mounted on the machine frame 11 and is urged towards drive roller 13 under its own weight and the weight of the arm 16, while second nip rollers 19 rotates on an arm 21 pivoted on an extension 17 of an arm 16 and is urged towards roller 14 by spring 22. Roller 14 may be moved out of engagement with roller 13 and roller 19 may be moved out of engagement with roller 14 for the purpose of threading up the rollers or for replacing the resilient tyres 15, 20. In the described form the rollers are used to forward a twist crimped filament into a low-tension zone for winding.
