Abstract
910,119. Motor vehicle . driving arrangements. AUSTIN MOTOR CO. Ltd. bag. 23, 1961 [July 27, 1960], No. 26065/60. Class 79(2). A motor vehicle driving arrangement comprises a longitudinally disposed engine 1 from the flywheel 2 of which the drive is transmitted direct (via a shaft 3) to a hydraulic pump 4 which motivates, through pipes 5, a motor 6 whose output shaft 7 is parallel to the engine crankshaft, the motor being placed near the pump but spaced laterally to an extent sufficient to provide a working clearance from the periphery of the flywheel, the output shaft 7 being connected through bevels 10 and 11 to a differential gear housed in the sump 12 of the engine and which drives the road wheels , 19 through shafts 13, 14 having, universal, joints 16, 15 and 17, 18.
