A fluid-pressure servomotor control system for regulating the suction in a line 4, Fig. 1, from the evaporator of a refrigeration plant to maintain the temperature in the evaporator at a desired fixed value, comprises a pressureregulating valve 1, having a valve member 12, Fig. 2, connected by a rod 11 to a spring-loaded servomotor piston 7 and a spring-loaded pilot valve 2, adjustable to adjust the operating temperature, fitted in an equalizing pipe 3 connecting the line 4 to the space above the servomotor piston. Depending upon the suction in the line 4 the pilot valve 2 more or less opens to adjust the position of the servomotor piston 7 which has a restricted opening 16 therethrough to the valve outlet 15 to re-establish balance between the gas pressure in the plant and the servomotor loading spring. To prevent undue oscillating of the valve member 12 when the pressure difference on the two sides of the valve member is large, i.e. at small valve openings, a cylindrical part 18 having a radial distance between it and the valve seat sleeve 13 less than or equal to the axial length of the part 18 is fitted on the outlet face of the valve member. To further increase the effectiveness of the part 18, its outer end 20 may be coned. To avoid oscillations at low-pressure differences on the two sides of the valve member, a non-return valve comprising a leaf spring 21 may be fitted to open the outlet end 8 of the equalizing pipe 3 when the suction has attained a predetermined value. The leaf spring prevents mechanical oscillations of the servo-piston being fed back through the pipe 3 and restricts the space above the piston to avoid fluctuating gas pressures. The spring-loaded pilot valve 2 may be replaced by either thermostatically or electrically operated valves and may be fitted in the regulating valve housing.
