A carding machine has a roller-for example a doffing roller 18-carried in a pair of members 26 pivotally mounted at 25 on the machine frame, and means-for example screws 38-for adjusting the position of members 26 about their pivots. The members 26 and thus roller 18 may be locked in the adjusted position by nuts 40 on screws 38, and by screws 46 in slots 48 on the frame.
