Abstract

857,442. Mechanical projectors. SACK FILLERS Ltd. June 12, 1957 [June 29, 1956], No. 20235/56. Class 78 (1). [Also in Group XVII] In a sack filling device of the kind in which material, fed by a weighing mechanism (not shown), is accelerated by a belt 21 co-operating with a channelled wheel 22, and is projected through a discharge spout 23, the material is fed to the belt through a slowly tapering spout 16 which is designed to provide a compacted non- turbulent flow which is applied tangentially to wheel 22. Dimension L is stated to be at least five times dimension W1. The cross-section and the taper of the spout is adjustable by a plate 40. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown) the spout is fed by a conveyer belt. According to another modification the wheel 22 comprises a pair of spaced discs with no grooved centre portion.
