Abstract
1,097,471. Bag filling machines. WESTON TRUCK & ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Nov. 18, 1964 [Nov. 18, 1963], No. 45381/63. Heading B8C. A device for filling bags with flowable material e.g. coal, comprises a shoot having a bag-supporting device at its exit, the device being adjustable relative to the shoot to enable bags of various height to be supported with their bases on the ground. Inwardly directed flanges (Fig. 3, not shown) are provided on the bottom side edges of the device 22 to direct material centrally into the sack. Flow into the shoot 11 is controlled by an adjustable damper 12 and the shoot opened and closed by a secondary damper 15 operated by a pedal 18 or handle 20. A grill at 9 and shoot at 10 and 21 permit coal dust to separate out. The bag is hung from pins (not shown) on an arcuate device 22 adjustable vertically by wing nut and slot means 24-26. In operation, the damper 12 is set to permit the desired flow and the secondary damper 15 then opened, the member 22 having been adjusted to suit the bag height.
