853,793. Positive clutches. ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN A.G. March 22, 1957 [March 28, 1956], No. 9556/57. Class 80 (2). One engaging surface 20, 21 of an electromagnetic clutch is of a flexible material such as rubber or plastic, into which teeth or corrugations 22 lying on a radial or conical surface on the other surface are pressed. A magnet body 14, keyed to a shaft 12, has two exchangeably fastened annular discs 20, 21 of a flexible material containing iron powder for magnetic permeability. An armature 17 slidably splined on a member 16 keyed to a coupled shaft 13 has teeth or corrugations 22 on its end face which, on engagement press into the flexible surface to provide a positive engagement. In Fig. 4 (not shown), the flexible surface is adjustably carried radially outwards of the magnet body and is secured to a spring-loaded ring.
