Abstract

830,765. Binding-posts; terminal boards. BELLING & LEE Ltd. Feb. 28, 1958, No. 6489/58. Class 38 (1). A terminal comprises a pair of plates 1, 11 at least one of which is of conducting material and which are drawn together by a nut 16 and bolt 15 to clamp a conductor 18 between them, the plate 11 being captive on the bolt 15 and having down-turned tabs 14 on opposite side edges which fit between pairs of upturned tabs 5, 6 on opposite side edges of plate 1 to form barriers which confine the conductor between the plates. Fig. 4 shows two such terminals mounted on an insulating support 20 to form a terminal block by passing down-turned tabs 9, 10 on each plate 1 through slots in the support and twisting the tabs to retain the terminals in position. The tabs 9 project below the lower face of the block and are kinked at 50 whereby the block may be snapped into apertures in a panel, such as a printed circuit panel to make connection with the conductors thereon. Barriers 24, 25, 26 are provided at the ends of the support and between the terminals. A dovetail projection 45 and recess 46, Fig. 9, are provided at opposite ends of the support which are adapted to mate respectively with a corresponding recess 46<SP>1</SP> and projection 451 on similar terminal supports whereby a multiple terminal block can be built up. More than two terminals may be mounted on each support.
