Abstract

827,002. Idler rollers for belt conveyers. FISHER & LUDLOW Ltd. Dec. 23, 1957 [Dec. 24, 1956], No. 39181/56. Class 78 (1). In an idler roller for a belt conveyer of the kind consisting of disc-like rollers 11 threaded on a downwardlybowed spindle 13 which is slidably mounted in trunnions 15, e.g. as described in Specification 806,605, each trunnion is drilled eccentrically of its longitudinal centre to receive the adjacent spindle end so that by slackening off the nut engaging the compression spring 20, the trunnion may be removed from grooves 17 in the support 18, turned over, and replaced to displace that end of the roller spindle longitudinally of the conveyer by a distance twice the eccentricity of the drilling. It is said that by so displacing one end of some of the spindles improved tracking of the belt is achieved, or correction can be made for the supports 18 at opposite sides of the conveyer being out of alignment.
