Abstract

556,075. Endless-belt conveyers. ROBINS CONVEYING BELT CO. Feb. 12, 1942, No. 1904. Convention date, May 15, 1941. [Class 78 (i)] A conveyer belt B is maintained in a central position by means of a "crowned" or barrel-shaped idler roller R which can rotate freely on its own axis and has also pivotal movement about a pin 15 in a plane parallel to the plane of the belt. In the construction shown the roller R has a cylindrical metal sheet 9 and an outer rounded rubber sleeve 10, and is mounted by means of a ball-bearing 18 on a sleeve 16 pivoted on the pin 15 which is fixed to a stationary shaft 6. The outer race 19 of the ball-bearing is clamped between the halves of a housing 20 which is secured to the roller by a pair of clamp rings 21 having a wedge action.
