Abstract

1,032,918. Rollers for endless belt conveyers. BROCKWAY ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Jan. 25, 1965 [Oct. 30, 1963], No. 42759/63. Heading B8A. A bearing unit for an idler roller includes a sleeve 214 which is supported by a ball bearing 241, 242, the sleeve being formed with flats 215 for engagement with complementary flats 201 formed on the end of the idler roller spindle 202. The housing 211 of the unit is sealed by means 25 and has a lubricant hole 216. Fig. 3 (not shown) indicates how the unit is non-rotatably received within the jaws 221 of a support 22. In a modification, Figs. 8, 9 (not shown), the spindle is of hexagonal cross-section for engagement with a complementary recess 217 in the sleeve 214. According to Fig. 10 (not shown), the roller 20 is of the double-helical spiral cage type. The bearing unit is readily removable from the support 22 and from the end of the roller spindle without the use of tools.
