Abstract

818,055. Agricultural powder distributers. COOPER, T. V. Aug. 27, 1956 [June 10, 1955], No. 16829/55. Class 6(1). A powder distributer comprises two hoppers 291, 292 which are moved laterally on rails 281, 282 so that the hoppers lie one behind the other to allow the machine to pass through gateways. As shown the hoppers are separately connected to chains 341, 342 which are passed over sprockets and are moved by a hand operated shaft. Each hopper is provided with openings in the bottom thereof, the size of the openings being adjusted by means of a slide controlled by handlevers 481, 482. The hoppers are provided with rotary agitators mounted on shafts 51 each provided with a gear wheel 67 which engages with a driving mechanism when the hoppers are in the extended position. The driving mechanism is driven by gearing from a gearwheel mounted on the tractor rear axle through a chain 56, pinion 57 cardon shaft 59, pinions 62, 64 and chain 63. The machine is provided with a caster wheel 27 and two forwardly projecting bars 203 connected to forked brackets mounted on a tractor rear axle casing. The machine may be mounted on the frame of a tractor in which case the hoppers may be underslung with respect to the machine chassis. A fixed central hopper may be provided with one or two movable hoppers.
