Abstract

814,038. Valves. FIRESTONE TIRE & RUBBER CO. Jan. 22, 1957 [Aug. 3, 1956J, No. 2265/57. Class 135. A tyre-carrying wheel rim and valve-stem assembly for a tubeless tyre in which the stem has a base 18 and a barrel 17 projecting through a rim hole 16, has the stem and rim 15 joined through an air-tight ball-and-socket joint and means for changing the direction of projection of the stem. The base and a rim socket have complementary curved surfaces between which is clamped a sealing washer 25. A washer between the clamping nut 23 and the rim has a flat face abutting the rim, the outer face being flat as at 30 or bevelled as at 22, to project the barrel in one of three directions as shown. In a modification the sealing washer extends through the hole.
