Abstract

811,207. Dry shavers. GONY, A. L. J. V. Aug. 20, 1957 [Oct 23, 1956], No. 26268/57. Class 131. An electric dry shaver comprises at least two cutting heads supported in the body of the shaver for pivotal movement independently of one another so that the cutting surface is automatically adapted to the outline of the part to be shaved. As shown, cutting heads, consisting of a perforated guard 4 and reciprocated cutter 5, are hinged together by a pin 8 passing through lugs 7 and having a shouldered end 10 bearing in recesses 9 formed in extensions 3 of a base plate 2 removably mounted in the shaver casing 1. A clip 11 retains the pin in the bearing and the heads are urged by a leaf spring 14 to present a concave cutting surface. Skin tensioning beads 15 assist the shaver to slide over the skin. Clamping screws or adjustable cams may be provided to lock the head in any desired position and in a modification the spring 14 is dispensed with the pivot pins being positioned midway of the height of the cutting heads or the heads being pivoted on their central longitudinal axis. Three cutting heads may be provided and the invention is stated to be applicable to circular cutting heads having rotating cutters.
