A safety razor of the clamped blade tvpe, is adapted to be cleaned without the necessity for taking it apart by the provision of means for holding the parts in an extended position and means for keeping the blade and combplate in alignment. A shank 2 carrying a guard 1 slides in a socket-like handle 3 on which is rotatably mounted a nut 4 engaging the lower part of the shank for clamping purposes. Alignment is effected by a spring bar 8 carrying positioning pins, which may be undercut or adjustable, to engage holes in the blade and comb-plate 7 which not connected with the handle 3. Relative rotation of the bar 8 is prevented by a tongue 9 engaging a groove in the shank, or by forming the shank of rectangular section and providing similar central holes in the bar and comb-plate. The shank 2 and handle 3 may both be threaded throughout their entire length, and the guard 1 may be recessed to accommodate the plate 8. In a modification, the the bar 8 is omitted and the shank is made of rectangular, oval, triangular, or lozenge section to engage corresponding holes in the blade and comb-plate. The shank is retained in the extended position by a spring tongue 14 carried in a recess in the shank and bearing against a wall of the handle 3. Alternatively the handle may carry the spring. Whilst extended, the parts may be held separated by the provision of the shank of pivoted tongues 13 upon which the blade may rest.
