Abstract
795,405. Cooling oil in power plants. NICHOLS, T. W. Feb. 18, 1957 [Feb. 24, 1956], No. 5759/56. Class 64(3) In a power plant in which the air or other gas delivered by a rotary compressor contains a quantity of sealing, cooling and lubricating oil, the oil is cooled in passing through a tubular fan-cooled heat exchanger, either before or after being separated from the air or other gas, the oil or the gas-oil mixture making a plurality of passes through successive tube groups when flowing through the heat exchanger. In the heat exchanger shown tubes 1 extend between heaters 6, 7 which are partitioned so that fluid entering at 2 flows in succession through series-connected groups each of twelve tubes to an outlet 3. The tubes may extend either horizontally (as shown) or vertically.
