Class 110(3) In a gas turbine of the multi-stage type having liquid-cooled rotor blades, each axial row of blades has associated therewith a common cooler which is independent of the coolers of the other axial rows of blades. The rotor blades 11 have cooling ducts 12, 13. which are connected to a pipe 10<SP>1</SP> and the coolant flows to and from a cooler 10 which comprises finned, radially-disposed pipes mounted at one end of the rotor by means of root portions 23. The coolers are cooled by air supplied from the compressor of the plant which enters at 8. is reversed and discharges at 9. In a second embodiment, each cooler comprises a duct disposed parallel to the rotor axis and is cooled by liquid, for example, water. Specification 623,841 is referred to.
