477,680. Straight-tube heat-exchangers. NEW ENGINE CO., Ltd., and MALONE, J. F. J. July 6,1937, No. 18766. [Class 64 (iii)] A heat-exchanger suitable for use in a hotgas engine for cooling after compression comprises a vertical group of finned tubes 6 connected at their ends to gas inlet and outlet headers 9 and spaced from the walls of a casing 1 by plates 8 which direct the cooling fluid in a sinuous course along the tubes. The tubes are connected to opposite sides of headers mounted in a lining 5 which may be slid in and out of the casing. Separate sections of a tube group may have separate inlets and outlets.
