774,147. Confining dust generated by grinding wheels. BRITISH STEEL CASTINGS RESEARCH ASSOCIATION Dec. 15, 1955 [Dec. 23, 1954], No. 37294/54. Class 8(2) The hood 8 shrouding the wheel 7 (not shown) of a swing frame grinder is connected by a duct 13 to the inlet of an electrically driven fan 14 which discharges away from the wheel and into a booth 1 through which air is drawn by a suction fan (not shown). As shown the fan 14 is driven by a motor 9 which drives the wheel through belting 10. In a modification the fan is driven by a separate motor and may be located in front of the booth inlet 2. In a further modification the suction duct com-. prises the.beam 6 of the grinder frame. Specification 742,456 is referred to.
