Abstract
782,510. Confining dust generated in industrial processes. HOLMAN BROS., Ltd. June 13, 1955 [June 15, 1954], No. 17536/54. Class 8(2). A grinding wheel hood has one or more curved dust deflecting vanes 8 and 13, Fig. 2, projecting inwardly from associated apertures 9, 14 in the peripheral wall 3 of the hood and having their inner edges curved so as to face the approaching periphery of the wheel 4 whereby dust carried by the latter is deflected into exhaust ducts 11 connected to a main suction duct 7, Fig. 1 (not shown). In a hood suitable for use with a swing grinder the apertures 19A, 19B, and 19C, Fig. 3, associated with vanes 18 lead into an arcuate suction duct formed by the peripheral wall 15 of the hood and an outer wall 16 and which in turn exhausts into a main suction duct 17.
