753,012. Internal shoe-drum brakes. KOTZ, F., [trading as BERGISCHE ACHSENFABRIK F. KOTZ & SOHNE]. July 16, 1952 [July 17, 1951], No. 18016/52. Class 103 (1). In an internal shoe drum brake in which one end of each shoe 3, 4 is expanded by an expanding arrangement 5 against the rotating brake drum (not shown), the other ends of the shoes are supported by an adjustable abutment 10 having slides 12, 13 provided with oblique supporting faces 14, 15 which bear against hardened rollers 16, 17 interposed between the ribs 3, 4 of the brake shoes 1, 2 and the slides 12, 13 respectively. The ribs 3, 4 are provided with semi-circular recesses 21, 20 which permit the centrally recessed portion of the rollers to fit into the recesses; the bearing surface of the slides 12, 13 presenting a larger bearing area to the roller than the ribs of the shoes. A screw 11 is provided in the adjustable abutment 10 whereby the slides 12, 13 may be displaced with regard to each other to accommodate wear of the brake linings.
