Abstract

1,270,007. Rollers. PEDER MORTENSEN A.S. 30 July, 1969 [2 Aug., 1969], No. 38363/69. Heading F2U. A roller comprises a shell 32 supported between its ends by at least one bearing 36a, 36b carried by a non-rotatable shaft 34, and at or near each end by another bearing 42 supported by a part (e.g. a sleeve 44 screwable into another sleeve 46) adjustable to vary the proportion F 1 , F 2 of the total radial load F s on the roller carried by each bearing 36a, 36b, 42. The load F s may be a nip load, and may be reacted by loads F e from two piston cylinder assemblies (54) Fig. 1 (not shown). The ratio F 1 : F 2 may be adjusted by screwing sleeves 46, 44 to vary x, for which two alternative arrangements, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) are described.
