Abstract

504,155. Adjusting internal shoe brakes. BUDD WHEEL CO. April 9, 1938, No. 10962. Convention date, April 9, 1937. [Class 103 (i)] The shoes of an internal expanding brake are independently manually adjustable at the anchors by blocks 19 having inclined faces engaging the ends of the studs 13 on which the brake shoes 27 anchor. The studs 13 are slidably received in a housing 9 which comprises also a sleeve 14 carrying two adjusting screws 17 bearing upon the end faces of the two semicylindrical blocks 19. The studs 13 have inclined ends engaging in slots in the blocks 19 having inclined bottoms. The blocks 19 bear against each other by their flat faces and may thus be independently adjusted by the studs 17. The blocks 19 have a diametral ridge 20 which interlocks with serrations on the ends of the screws 17.
