Abstract

1281746 Drum brakes FRUEHAUF CORP 13 Aug 1969 40405/69 Heading F2E Expanding mechanism for an internal shoe drum brake comprises an S-shaped cam 17 having axially spaced thick and thin portions 23, 24 which, respectively, are aligned with the large and small diameter portions 11, 9 of rollers 8 between which the cam is disposed. As shown, the rollers are retained in arcuate recesses 13 in radial ribs 12 of the shoes 7. In operation, the portion 24 of the cam engages the rollers after the portions 23 have moved the rollers outwardly to substantially the maximum amount thereof.
