747,776. Topping root-crops. HUMBERSIDE AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS CO., Ltd. Aug. 10, 1954 [Sept. 16, 1953], No. 25639/53. Class 6 (3). A potato-haulm disintegrator comprises a rotary disc 1 mounted on a tractor to rotate about a fore-and-aft axis and to be driven from the power takeoff, the disc having loosely-attached flails such as chains or flat metal bars 2, and being carried on the forward end of a longitudinal shaft 3 mounted in adjustable bearings 4, 17 at front and rear and driven by a belt 25 from a pulley 24 on the power take-off shaft. The front bearing is carried by a beam 5 adjustably mounted on brackets 11 on the tractor. The mounting permits the shaft 3 and disintegrator to be carried on either side of the tractor. A shield 16 is carried on legs 14 fitting within sockets 13 on the bar 5.
