Abstract

745,871. Chair frames. CHAPMAN, W. C. March 11, 1954 [Jan. 5, 1954], No. 308/54. Class 52(2). A chair having a bent wood seat frame has straight rear legs of wood attached to and outwardly inclined from the rear of the frame. As shown in Fig. 2, a D-shaped seat frame a has two front legs b in the corners in the normal manner and two rear legs c outwardly and rearwardly inclined at two points along the curved portion. A horizontal portion d fixed to the frame or to a batten f fixed to the frame has a portion e slightly inclined rearwardly to the vertical which carries a portion g which may be padded, for the back. Two supporting members may replace member e. Frame a supports a plain plywood seat or a fixed or removable cushion. The upper ends of the legs are recessed at l perhaps with a tongue n to fit the inner surface of the frame for attachment by screws m. Alternatively, the upper ends of the legs may be slotted for engaging reduced portions of the frame a. Rails q engage recesses in legs b and e.
