Abstract

739,416. Transformers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Feb. 8, 1954 [Feb. 11, 1953], No. 3653/54. Class 38 (2). A five-legged three-phase transformer core of the type normally constructed of four substantially rectangular core loops abutting each other in a single plane is modified according to the present invention by dividing each of the end loops into two parts and placing them at an angle-preferably 90 degrees-to each other. All the core loops may be of the wound core construction from a single tapering magnetic strip or from a series of strips each of uniform width but of widths differing from each other, thus to obtain substantially circular core legs. The widest part of the tapered strip may be at one end or intermediate the ends as desired.
