Abstract
671,044. Transformers and inductances. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and HOLBROOK, H. S. March 9, 1950 [May 11, 1949], No. 12581/49. Class 38 (ii). A moving-coil regulator, of the type comprising fixed and moving coils mounted on a core in such a manner that the fluxes linking the moving coil in the extreme positions are in opposing relation, is characterized in that the windings are carried on a core assembly comprising a plurality of radially disposed core elements. The core elements 1 each consist of two stacks of E-shaped punchings placed together so as to surround the fixed coils 2 and the moving coil 3 and to allow the moving coil 3 to travel between one fixed coil and the other. The fixed and moving coils may be autoconnected to serve as a step-up transformer and the coils may be divided into sections, the ratio of the input to output voltage being varied by series and/or parallel connection of the sections. The complete assembly is disposed within a circular tank 4.
