A laminated transformer core has at least three rectangular windows surrounded by main legs and yokes 1, 2 (Figs. 1 and 2) and auxiliary legs and yokes 3, 4, the cross-section of the main yokes being substantially rectangular and the cross-sections of the auxiliary yokes and auxiliary legs being substantially lenticular. In the various lamination layers in the core there is a substantially constant ratio between the width of the lamination of a main leg and the sum of the widths of the lamination of a main yoke and the lamination of an auxiliary yoke. The main leg laminations may be formed from strips 1<SP>1</SP> and 1<SP>11</SP> (Fig. 5) spot-welded together at 6.
