738,467. Arc rupturing in switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Oct. 23, 1953 [Dec. 31, 1952], No. 29301/53. Class 38 (5). A high-tension circuit-breaker has a plurality of series-connected main " breaks " 1 in insulated compressed-air containers 7, voltagedependent resistors 4 in parallel with the series of main breaks, auxiliary " breaks " 2 in series with the resistors 4 and arranged within the containers 7, high ohmic resistors or, as shown, condensers 3 connected in parallel with the main breaks 1 to control the voltage distribution over the main breaks, and high ohmic resistors 6 to connect the resistors 4 to the impedances 3 to control the voltage distribution over the resistors 4 when the breaks 2 are open. The resistors 6 also prevent overloading of the voltage dependent resistors 4 should one or more of the main breaks 1 re-strike. Specifications 680,456 and 689,973 are referred to.
