Abstract
728,188. Reservoir pens. FAGARD & CIE, A. J. June 1, 1953 [March 30, 1953], No. 15206/53. Class 146(3). A reservoir pen of the kind comprising a barrel enclosing an interchangeable ink cartridge provided with a plug normally closing the cartridge, a nib-section, an ink feed-bar the inner end of which forces the plug closing the cartridge into the interior when the cartridge is introduced into the barrel, and a sealing ring of elastic material having an external shape corresponding to the internal shape of the surrounding barrel and nib-section adapted to co-operate with the tapered end of the cartridge and prevent the ink contained in the cartridge soiling the inside of the pen barrel, is characterized in that the sealing ring is provided with an exterior flange adapted to be gripped between the nib-section and the barrel of the pen. As shown, an exterior flange of a sealing ring 12 is positioned between the end' of the barrel 1 and the nib-section 3, while a feed-bar 4 has an annular groove to receive an internal flange 17 in the ring 12. When the plug end of the cartridge 9 is received in a flared portion 21 of the ring 12, the ring 12 is pressed outwardly to permit a lip 22 on the ring to engage an annular groove in the plug end. A spring 24, within a removable cap 2, engages the.rear end of the cartridge 9 to maintain the cartridge 9 against the ring 12.
