[Class 146 (iii)] A cap 1 for a fountain or like pen carries a radial spring 3 housed in an internal groove 2 and which engages a recess 5 in the nib holder or barrel of the pen provided with a flat surface which constrains the spring 3 while the cap is being moved to fully closed position on the barrel. The diameters of the flat surface 7 and the internal bore of the cap are such that they form a seal between the cap and the flat.
