717,181. Change-speed gear. ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN AKT.-GES. March 4, 1952 [March 7, 1951], No. 5639/52. Class 80 (2) A multi-speed change-speed gear, particularly for motor vehicles, of the kind having wheel pairs 7, 18; 10, 33; 11, 25; 34, 15; 28, 15 selectively coupled to their shafts by means of friction clutches, and in which the driving shaft 1 is coaxial with the driven shaft 3 and at least two countershafts 30 and 19, 21 are disposed parallel to the driving and driven shafts, is characterized in that between the driving and driven shafts is disposed another shaft 2 coaxial with the said shafts and adapted to be coupled directly thereto. The gears 34, 28 can be connected to the shafts 30, 21 respectively by multi-disc clutches 40, 26 and the gear 33 is normally connected to the shaft 30 by a positive clutch 36 except when reverse is required. The countershaft 19, 21 is formed in two parts, which are connected by a multi-disc clutch 23, and the shafts 1, 2; 2, 3 are connected by multi-disc clutches 8, 12. The gear gives six forward speeds.
