Abstract
711,722. Adhesive tape dispensers. MINNESOTA MINING & MANUFACTURING. CO. March 28, 1952 [April 4, 1951; April 4, 1951], No- 8007/52. Class 18 A dispenser for self adhesive tape comprises two arms 15, 16 attached to a drum 11 for supporting a roll of the tape, the two arms being connected at their ends by a plate 17 which acts as a guard plate for a projectable cutter 25 when the cutter is withdrawn. The tape is withdrawn between the two arms 15, 16 and when it is desired to sever a length, the cutter 25 is projected by a finger operated lever 35 so as to enable the tape to be drawn against the cutter. Desirably, a roller 45 is provided between the arms 15, 16 and to which the tape is adhered prior to it being severed. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 7; the cutter 128 is mounted on a frame pivoted at 131 between the two arms 115, 116 and is adapted to be swung from an inoperative position in which the cutter is guarded by a plate 117 to a position in which the tape may be drawn against the cutter. The swinging movement of the frame is effected by a finger operated lever 138. In both arrangements the cutter is returned to its inoperative position by a spring. Alternatively one arm only may be provided.
