[Class 18] Pressure sensitive adhesive tape is engaged and fed from a supply roll 22 by fingers 32 extending from the edge of a wheel 31 rotated, through a pawl 46 and ratchet 35 mechanism, by an arm 42 on which is mounted a device which severs the tape as the arm is actuated. The tape supply 22 is wound on a castellated core 23 supported between two discs 14, 19 mounted on a sleeve 13 which rotates about a spindle 12 secured to a supporting plate 11. The tape is fed round an idler roller 38a to the wheel 31, the adhesive side of the tape being engaged by the fingers 32 so that the tape extends from the edge of one finger to the edge of the next. A ratchet wheel 35 is fixed to the wheel 31 and coacts with a pawl 46 mounted on the lower end of the arm 42. The arm 42 and wheel 31 are mounted on a spindle fixed to the plate 11 and a spring 54 extends between the arm and plate 11 to retain the arm against a stop 51. Associated with the arm 42 is a cutter blade 68 attached to a plate 61 slidable on the arm. A pin 63 projects from the plate 61 and engages a sloping plate 73 pivoted to the plate 11 so that as the arm 42 is actuated, the pin 63 engages the sloping plate 73 to slide the plate 61 downwardly and to cause the cutter blade 68 to pass between two of the fingers 32 and sever the tape. At the same time the pawl 46 engages the ratchet wheel 35 to rotate the wheel and extend the tape to a position where it can be removed. A second stop 52 for the arm 42 is positioned so that the pawl and ratchet mechanism can only rotate the wheel 31 to dispense a length of tape extending between two fingers. A cover may be provided for the dispenser.
