Class 135 In a valve in which a ball closure member 2 is so held in a cup formed in the end of the operating stem that it can rotate about an axis in alignment with the axis of the stem, a frictionreducing cap 1 is fixed to the ball by a stem 7 and is located between the ball and the cup in the stem. The stem 7 may be pointed or serrated, and square or round in cross section, and the cap may be hollow, as shown, or consist of a solid segment. The ball is formed with a projection 5 which rides in a groove in the stem, or a groove in lieu of the projection 5 is engaged by an inwardly directed lip on the stem.
