Abstract

770,694. Valves. HAMER, L. S. Oct. 26, 1954, No. 30871/54. Class 135. The obturating element C of a valve has a flat face co-operating with a flat seat formed in a partition B across the hollow body of the valve, and a sealing ring 30 is mounted in a recess in one of the cooperating flat surfaces and is held in place by a ring 40 which is provided with a flange 50 to engage a shoulder on the sealing ring; and whereas the outer face of ring 40 is in the same plane as the adjacent flat surface, the exposed face of the sealing ring projects beyond the flat surface in which it is mounted. The sealing and retaining rings may, of course, be provided on the element C. The valve shown is a check valve comprising a globe-shaped body with a removable cap in a recess in which the valve stem D can slide. The element C is provided also with a depending spindle 62 slidable in a guide 63 carried by ring 40. A stop valve actuated by a screwed spindle which co-operates with a nut in a yoke upstanding from a cap on a globe-shaped body is also described. Where the sealing ring is provided on element C, the shoulder on the sealing ring is outwardly turned and ring 40 screws on to the periphery of the head.
