Abstract
701,944. Endless tracks for vehicles. ROADLESS TRACTION, Ltd. Oct. 1, 1952 [Oct. 2, 1951], No. 22950/51. Class 79(1) In a vehicular endless track comprising links pivoted to one another through resilient pads, a ground engaging block' of resiliently deformable material is anchored in each link, or in each of a number of links, by detachable engagement with the heads or nuts of bolts which retain the pads in position. As shown the endless track is formed of links each having end plates -1, 2 and a bridge piece 4 which has formed thereon teeth 5 and each plate 1, 2 having a spud 3. Adjacent links are connected by a pair of bolts 6 passing through holes 7 in the end plates with clearance. The bolts 6 carry the rubber pads 8, 9, 10 and washers 12. In each link is mounted the rubber block 13 formed with a slightly convex ground-engaging surface 14 and wings 15, each wing having holes 16. The block is mounted ii its link by, first, engaging the holes in one wing with the nuts or heads of one pair of bolts 6 then deforming the other wing until the holes therein ergage the nuts or bolt heads of the other pair of bolts 6 co-operating with the link, and finally relaxing the deformation so that the block becomes firmly held in position. The block may not be mounted in each link. Specification 395,723 is referred to.
