285,107. Roadless Traction, Ltd., and Penn, O. S. Oct. 9, 1926. Addition to 248,839. Endless-track vehicles.-Comprises an endless track in which the means provided for preventing the links from turning relatively to each other beyond a predetermined angle are so arranged that substantially no strain in any direction is taken by the hinge pins. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the links 1, 2 are formed with radial slots 3, 4 for the reception of bars 5 which fit closely in the slots 3 but loosely in the slots 4, so that the links can turn relatively to each other through a certain angle. When in the limiting position ea.ch bar takes the strain in a direction perpendicular to its active surface so that no strain comes on the pins. The slots and bars may be at varying distances from the centre of the joint. Modifications are described in which (1) the bars 5 are fixed to one of the links and work in slots in the other, and (2) the hinge, pins are dispensed with, hub plates working in recesses in the links being provided with radial teeth projecting into radial sluts in the links. In the construction shown in Figs. 8 and 11 the ends 16, 17 of the links are formed with elongated holes 18 for the reception of loose pins 19 which are held by cover plates 20. Rubber or other cushioning blocks may be provided on or between the pins. The links may be formed with a tread plate 14.
