Abstract

269,644. Roadless Traction, Ltd., and Penn, O. S. Jan. 18, 1926. Endless-track vehicles.-A chain, comprising a number of separate links and especially adapted for endless tracks for vehicles, has each joint so formed that the working of the joint depends upon the flexure of rubber of other resilient material, the pin or other metallic form of joint being dispensed with. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the chain or track comprises shoe members 1 and link members 2, having lugs 3, 8, respectively, at each end. Blocks 12 of rubber separate each lug 3 from a lug 8 and the joint thus formed is completed by a locking piece 6 which rests between a lug 7 on the shoe and shoulders 9, 10 on the links. In the construction shown in Fig. 4 the links 14 are formed with end lugs and central lugs 19, and the shoes are in two parts 15, 16 bolted together at 17 so as to clamp five rubber blocks 27 between the shoe parts and the links. Bosses 22, 25 on the shoe parts, through which pass the bolts 17, pass freely through holes 20 in the links.
