A set of components for building toy or full size structures comprises a foundation unit and support, panel and connector members. Fig. 19 shows a baseboard or concrete foundation 1 as used with a plinth 2 and solid or hollow core 3, 4. After inserting vertical tabs 12 of connector keys, Fig. 20, through slots 11 of the plinth 2, projecting tabs 9 of the plinth are slid in recesses 6, 8 of the core and, passing through slots 10 in the baseboard, are held by fixing pins, Fig. 14-16 (not shown), placed through holes in the tabs on the underside of the baseboard. An alternative form of plinth, Fig. 17 (not shown), eliminates the use of an inner core. Framework I section members, Fig. 5, are mounted on the plinth by engaging the upwardly projecting tab 12 in an end recess 16 of the I member and inserting a pin through aligned holes 17, 18 in the tab and member respectively. Framework members are joined, e.g. as shown in Figs. 3, 4, 5 by tabbed connectors and pins. Panel members forming walls, floors, ceilings and roof, may be plain, have rebated or upturned edges, or may simulate tiling, stonework, brickwork or plaster, and hollow walls may be formed by panels engaging front and rear edges of the framework members. Fig. 30 shows an external corner wall panel which has upturned edges 29, holes along the longitudinal edges permitting the panel to be secured by fixing pins to a support member. Window and door members comprise a pair of pierced panels provided with a reveal and have fixing brackets for engagement with connectors. The windows and doors are hung on long pins. Circular or square hollow pillars may fit over the I section members or have brackets for fixing the pillars independently.
